PARTNERSHIPS
At the heart of Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū / Banks Peninsula Geopark is the community. A fundamental driver of a Geopark is to develop benefits for all local communities. Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū / Banks Peninsula Geopark will encourage the local population to partake in and enjoy the environments of Banks Peninsula, thereby providing a platform for engagement, education, and economic benefits.
The success of Te Pātaka o Rākaihautū / Banks Peninsula Geopark is dependent on relationships, be it with an individual resident, or a papatipu rūnanga, or a not-for-profit, or a council organisation, or international collaborators.
Geopark partnerships will be created as mutually beneficial working relationships, focusing on advertising, sharing of resources, expertise, and knowledge.
The Geopark strives to create kaitiaki (guardians) for our environment. Key to our strategy is conveying knowledge, with education leading to preservation.
